You’ve booked the flight, the hotel and the hire car. The only thing you haven’t sorted is where your pooch will stay whilst you’re gone! Whether you’re going away for a night, a week or a couple of months, with a Mad Paws sitter, you can rest assured that your dog will receive all the personalised care, love and attention they deserve!
That being said, it can be nerve racking leaving your favourite pal for a few days, even if you know you’re leaving them in awesome hands. Use our top tips to get your pooch ready for his vacation and allow you to relax.
Pick the right sitter
Mad Paws have over 8000 sitters to choose from so you can choose someone who meets your pet’s needs perfectly. Got a bouncy pup who needs lots of exercise and playtime? We have the sitter for that. Or maybe your pooch is a little more reserved and anxious and needs a serene, calm environment to feel comfortable? We’ve got you covered. Browse through and make some contact with some of our sitters
Do a meet and greet
One way to ensure both you and your dog feel more relaxed about their stay away is to meet your potential sitters. Contact and meet with a few and allow your dog to sniff ‘em out and pick a favourite!
Leave a checklist
You may wish to leave a checklist for your sitter with important instructions and information about your dog. Details such as your vet’s phone number and address, instructions for medication and an alternate emergency contact (in case they can’t get hold of you) will leave you feeling confident that, in the very unlikely case of an emergency, your dog is completely safe. You may also want to leave information about your dog’s personal needs, likes and dislikes to allow for a truly personalised Mad Paws stay!
Pack creature comforts
The less your dog’s normal routine is interrupted, the better and less confusing for them. Obviously some disruption is unavoidable but you can help by packing a bag of favourite toys, beds and foods. Your dog will recognise them and feel reassured that there’s nothing to worry about.
Don’t make a fuss!
As hard as you may find it to leave your dog behind, try not to show it! Crying and fussing will only raise anxiety levels for your pet. Go for a quick walk or play a little game of fetch and then casually head out the door like it’s no big deal!
Don’t delay! Head over now to make your booking and treat your pooch to an amazing Mad Paws experience!
